Mario Mushroom inspired in Stainless Steel
This turned out pretty darn cute. It can be made into a necklace, keychain, cell charm or earrings.

Green Lantern inspired ring in Stainless Steel.
I've gotten a couple requests for this, too bad I didn't have time to make the Thundercats inspired one too..

My iPhone case fits!

I received this in the mail from my 3D printing place last week right after my family vacation and am very happy it's the correct dimensions. In the next week or two I'll dye the case purple, my favorite color, then test out a new varnish so it can have added durability.

At the moment I'm making a base model on my computer that has all the openings in the correct place (since I now have the psyical model I can see that a few openings are like a half mm off, also there are some areas where the case is too thick and a couple sharpish edges). Once the base model is done I'll start on prototype 2, with just swirls and kitty upon request  :)

I keep forgetting when I post things on facebook it only forwards them to Twitter and not Blogger

Here are a couple Steampunk inspirations I'm working on. The necklace should be coming in the mail next week while I'm on vacation. Not a bad thing to come home to packages.

After dying this one black I totally think I should get the necklaces and earrings made in the same material, it brings out the swarovski crystal so well. I think I'll try doing more bracelets along these lines, except with more sparkle.

This is the pendant I'm waiting for in the mail. I'm thinking either red or clear crystals, hmmm.

iPhone case, take 1

Soo,  iPhone 4 case completed, just have to wait a couple weeks to see if it fits correctly and snaps together correctly.  *fingers crossed*. Seeing as I'm among the masses still waiting to get their iPhones I'll hopefully have one by the time I get the printed case in the mail. I think I'm going to dye it dark purple.

As for Steampunk stuff, I should be getting the nylon braclet in the mail this week and probably the stainless steel pieces next week some time, hopefully before my family trip.

To ping.fm or to not ping.fm

Soo, ping.fm is one of those site where you post the same comment to multiple places all at once. I could theoretically sign up and have this blog updated with the same information as my business page of facebook and my twitter and it'd be all through just one place. I kinda like the sound of it, but at the same time a blog is more in depth and longer in general and for facebook updates and twittering (which I do have attached to facebook) I generally only say a few sentences, if that. I personally don't want to torment facebook and twitter followers with long meanderings which so often run through my head, isn't that what a blog is for anyways?

Maybe I'll only update pictures via ping.fm and write long random posts directly through blogger??

Well of course it would also help to have a big following on any of these social networky things, which I don't at the moment cause my days of rich and fameness haven't quite woken up from my daydream yet. So to a lot of people it wouldn't really matter if the same dribble was posted to everything.. but for whatever reason it matters to me because though only a couple of you super cool people :) see me here, I don't want to be on here only for show, cause I consider myself genuine and down to earth and all that jazz...

Fanime is over, now onto new ideas and a couple small conventions

So this year is the fruition of my hobby that hopefully will start resembling a solid business soon. I just need to shun my urges for procrastination. I'm happy to say FanimeCon went well. I gave out a bunch of business cards.

My new obsession that I also for whatever reason ended up dreaming about multiple times last night is Steampunk. Being a bit of a Sci-fi and Fantasy geek who also thinks Victorian era pieces are endearing, it's a good fit for me. So in the next few months keep an eye out for some Steampunk inspired pieces on my Etsy. (http://www.etsy.com/shop/CWestbrookDesigns).

How to integrate everything together...

That's the question... how do I integrate all my interests together? First off I have a degree in 3D Modeling, then a fascination with making jewelry, handmade and otherwise, and now to add to it I've discovered potential in creating 3D designs that I can get made in nylon plastic or stainless steel and now the possibility (once I figure out the technical side of it) of creating 3D objects in full color. So do I have a website for each? I'd rather not, I may be a fragmented artist, but I just would like to keep cwestbrook.com and have an easy to navigate menu depending on what a customer is looking for. Either that or I don't think it would be true to myself.

I may be going to an anime convention in May called Fanime, and from there I'm going to have a test run of a few pieces. I'll have to take it one step at a time I suppose.
